In some circles, somewhere along the line, loving Jesus with all of one’s heart turned into perfectionism. It morphed from the adoration of the One who hung the stars to a striving that makes one feel they need to do everything right at all times, existing in a constant state of "making sure", if you will in all the ways. Can I just tell you if you haven't realized it yet, that this is impossible? And while I am all for following God, there is a realization that comes as one goes further along in life, that our walk with God will be imperfectly done. There is no one on earth who gets it all right, always knowing what to say, always behaving properly in all circumstances. Never messing up. Never being messed up. Not having a past. That is a pretty tall order after all. We all fit into the category of those who don't measure up and the Bible is very clear that it's those are the very people that God came to save, the imperfect ones. Luke 5:31-32 says that those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, and that Jesus did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. And it makes sense then that if we come to God in an imperfect state, then we can worship Him that way too. Hello JOY! There is a confusion though that creeps in that needs to be flushed out that says that you have to understand it all too to pour out your heart to God. Not so, that friends, would also be impossible. God's thoughts are above ours in every way. So where does that leave us then? In a pretty good place actually. When Jesus is our Lord and Saviour, He brings us into right relationship based on what He has so famously done on the cross. It's based on who He is and what He did, and not what we do, not ever. Doesn't that sit better to know that you can stop striving and just be close to God without having it altogether every second of the day and night? That's why the cross is so important. It's where He shed His blood paying the price to make the whole of humanity right with God. This is why He is called The Great Physician, because He can heal us, body, mind, soul and spirit. The thing is though, you have to choose it, and if you've never or you're just not sure, do it right now. There's no time like the present to tell Jesus that you need Him and there is a whole lot of life on the other side of that decision. A song lyric popped to mind while I was writing this from a band named, "Plumb". They sing, "There's a God shaped whole in all of us." Jesus is the only puzzle piece that's going to fit there. He's the only One who can make us whole.

"If you O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. I wait for the LORD, my whole being  waits, and in his word I put my hope." -Psalm 130:3-5.

"Therefore, I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." - Luke7:47.

"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”- Romans 10:9-10

Keep stretching your hands out to God dear hearts. Pour your heart out like a waterfall to Him. The road has surely been rough, but we are mighty in Him. Praise you Jesus. You did it all.
