Shift!

This is a painting about hope. And not just any hope, the kind that gets you through a scrape. It's a hope that prevails through tumultuous circumstances that shake you. This is reflective in this fiery looking sea and sky. Deep in the ocean floor a significant shift happened, tectonic plates moved creating room for the power of lava to bubble up, creating room for the power of water to move. And what was calm above suddenly became turbulent. And while this tsunami has the consequences of a tsunami, there is another thing happening here. The boat and its passengers are making it through the tight squeeze of the wave that is coming down around them. They are sailing through a narrow opportunity. They are sailing through a green room and they are in sheer awe of their salvation. They've made it by the seat of their pants as it were. And the wave is doing something else that is protective, it's shielding the sailors from the meteors that are showering down. So while this catastrophe was certainly not anticipated because no one in their right mind would go out in that, the boat is absolutely and utterly safe. The occupants are going to make it out to open water where it is calm and safe. They've made it through. And it is a tale of hope I think that unexpected and challenging things can happen to us, but we can get through them even if they take us to other shores than we planned. We have to be brave though and it makes all the difference who is in our boat. You need a good captain to navigate this kind of storm. Jesus is mine and it's made all the difference.
